High School Latin One

Picture
Class Description
This Latin class is geared for readers and computer users. We will learn Latin using either an online version, CD Rom, or hardback textbook of Hans Orberg's Lingua Latina program, part I: Familia Romana. Students will approach Chapters 1-17 from the Familia Romana in a method similar to learning a modern language: by inductive reasoning and communication. Grammar is picked up naturally and vocabulary is learned through the repetition of words in context of the story.

High School Latin I is designed to be a yearlong class with weekly homework. Students will be graded by submitting voice recorded translations and exercises completed on-line or from the workbook. Exams will be administered at the end of each semester. Enrolled students will have password-protected access to the syllabus,  audio readings, video tutorials, worksheets, and helpful links: HERE.

This class meets every Thursdays @ 10:00-10:55 at LEAD Homeshool in Decatur, Ga., starting September 8, 2011 and follows the LEAD calendar. The cost of High School Latin I is $235 per semester.

Nota Bene: this class will not meet September 15th. Instead, a complimentary teacher-guided tour of the Classical galleries at the Michael C. Carlos Museum is scheduled for Friday, December 2, 2011.
