Elementary Latin One

Class Description
Elementary Latin I exposes students to the reading of the Latin language and its basic grammar (nouns, adjectives, and verbs). Students will learn the relationship between Latin vocabulary and English derivatives and explore classical mythology and Roman daily life through a variety of hands-on-activities, songs, art projects, and games. At the end of the year, students perform a play in Latin and enjoy a Roman feast with our famous dormice!

Students will need to obtain a copy of Barbara Bell's Book: Minimus : Latin 1. Light homework will be assigned each week.  Enrolled students will have password-protected access to the weekly syllabus,  audio readings, video tutorials, worksheets, and helpful links.

Elementary Latin I is designed to be a yearlong class. It meets weekly on Tuesdays @ 12:00-12:55 pm at LEAD Homeshool in Decatur, Ga. The cost of Elementary Latin I is $225 per semester. Classes start September 6, 2011 and follow the LEAD calendar.

Nota Bene: this class will not meet September 13th. Instead, a complimentary teacher-guided tour of the Classical collections at the Michael C. Carlos Museum is scheduled for Friday, November 11, 2011.
